September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Ovarian Cancer is one of the most deadly of women’s cancers. Each year, approximately 21,500 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In 2008, approximately 15,500 women will die in the United States from ovarian cancer. Many women don’t seek help until the disease has begun to spread, but if detected at its earliest stage, the five-year survival rate is more than 93%.
Ovarian cancer awareness is extremely important to the Meridian Design Group family as we have lost two members to the terrible disease. Krista Reimingler was a stylist in Carmel for 6 years before losing her battle in 2008. Christine Baxter, sister to owner Sue Moore, lost her seven year in 2004. Since then Sue has been an active national board member of Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA).
This September, we will be honoring those who’ve lost their battle to the disease and spreading the message of hope, awareness and love for those battling it right now.
